Facebook in working time? A favorite pastime
Employees spend more and more time on social networks. Numbers of those who use social networks in their working time are also increasing. This is the result of research performed on 1,600 corporate users from the UK, the USA, Germany and Japan.
The results have shown that every fourth employee uses Facebook or other social networks. The highest increase of popularity of social networks has been observed in Germany and the UK.
It is interesting that owners of corporate laptops use social networks more often than their colleagues with desktop computers. Small businesses are more free than large businesses as there are no highly restrictive rules of corporate computers use set in small companies. There are three times as many social networks users in small and medium companies who do not hesitate to relax in their working time.
Employers are fighting with these trends by staff activity monitoring. No wonder: The employees are paid for the time they spend on Facebook, not with work.
